Chinguacousy Township (was the name of the area of what is now known as Brampton in the Peel Region) was void of any real businesses with the exception of the Martin Salisbury tavern and all town business was conducted there. Buffy’s Corners (Main Street and Queen Street) held another tavern from which the intersection was referred to, William Buffy’s tavern, which again, was the only real significant business in the area.
